Virenia Gwendolyn "Nia" Peeples (born December 10 in 1961) is a famous American R&B and dance music actress and singer. Peeples is also famous for her part as Pam Fields, the mother to Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars. Peeples was also known as Karen Taylor Winters, the protagonist of The Young and the Restless and Sydney Cooke, on Walker, Texas Ranger. Peeples was born in Hollywood, California, the child of Robert Eugene Peeples, a flamenco dancer, as well as Elizabeth Joan Rubic. She was raised in West Covina. Her maternal grandparents were immigrants from the Philippines and were of Filipino, Spanish, French and German descent. Her father, originally from Mississippi was of Scots-Irish, English, Native American, and Italian descent. Peeples went to UCLA in the years she performed as Liberace's opening act in Las Vegas on weekends.Peeples started her career with the performance group The Young Americans. In 1988, she topped the charts at the top spot on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart with "Trouble" and went up to number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. The most well-known song she has is "Street Of Dreams" that reached the top spot of the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1991. She created an music video in 1986 for "All You Can Dream" which was directed by Alan Bloom and conceptualized by Keith Williams, for the goals of promoting values of UCLA. In Prince's "Raspberry Beret" video, she appeared. Peeples presented Debbie Allen a Lifetime Achievement Award on February 4 in 2009 at The Carnival: Choreographers Ball 10th Anniversary Show
